02 — Why MedBridge
Most international shadowing programs hop students across small ward rounds at a network of partner clinics. MedBridge is different: every rotation happens inside one hospital — a private, high-volume surgical center with the case mix of a regional referral hospital.
| Typical shadowing abroad | MedBridge at Astghik | |
|---|---|---|
| Setting | Rotating small clinics | One ISO-certified multidisciplinary hospital, 15 ORs |
| Daily exposure | Ward rounds and a surgery or two per week | Observation of up to 5 surgeries daily, Mon–Fri |
| Specialty breadth | 3–6 specialties | 24 clinical specialties under one roof |
| Language | Often local language with translator | English-language program |
| Hands-on access | Observation only | Supervised hands-on exposure for advanced students* |
| Cost of living | Western Europe / US benchmarks | Yerevan: ~25–35% of Western Europe |
*Hands-on opportunities depend on academic level, specialty, hospital approval, and local regulations.

Voices
Past participants on what MedBridge changed for them — clinically, academically, and personally.
I observed forty-one surgeries in two weeks — more than I'd seen in two years of medical school. My residency interviewers wanted to hear about MedBridge before anything else on my CV.

5th-year medical student
University of Bologna · Cardiac surgery rotation
The hands-on time was real. I scrubbed in on a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on day three. Nothing in Germany would have given me that as a 4th-year.
Daniel K.
4th-year medical student
Charité Berlin · General surgery rotation
Yerevan surprised me. Mornings in scrubs, evenings in cafés. The program team handled everything — airport, apartment, even the SIM card. I just had to show up and learn.

09 — FAQ
Our programmes are open to medical students in years 1–6, pre-med students, international healthcare trainees, young physicians, and residents. Pre-med students are eligible for selected observational shadowing programmes. Advanced medical students may be eligible for supervised hands-on exposure in selected surgeries, depending on specialty, experience, and hospital approval.
For most participants the programme is observational — observation of up to five surgeries daily, detailed surgeon explanations, post-operative discussions, clinical rounds, and exposure to OR protocols. For advanced and qualified participants, selected programmes may include supervised hands-on clinical experience during selected procedures, strictly depending on academic level, qualifications, hospital approval, and local regulations.
The MedBridge programme is conducted in English. Astghik's physicians are internationally trained and collaborate with clinics across Europe, Russia, and the United States — English is the working language for international participants.
Programmes run for one, two, or three weeks. Longer durations are available on request. All participants arrive on Saturday; the rotation begins the following Monday.
